The layouts for my typebook for the typeface Baskerville. Its based on the Sherlock Holmes story “The Hound of the Baskervilles”. (I thought I was being pretty clever) I used excerpts from Sr Arthur Conan Doyle’s original text to display the typeface. The whole booklet was created using only the Baskerville typeface, including the hound’s skeleton.

Reasons to hope CBS’s Elementary doesn’t suck:

1. More fun things is always good.
2. It would be good for business for your Holmes franchise of choice. New people catching the Holmes bug means more people reading the original stories, which means more people seeking out other adaptations. The proof is in the pudding.
3. It’ll keep you busy between series of BBC Sherlock and releases of Warner Brothers Holmes films.
4. Another distraction from the meaninglessness of a chaotic universe.
5. Who needs more reasons to be angry?

Okay, this is pretty amazing. AlmapBBDO produced this spot, which uses 873 Getty stills to tell a man’s life story. And I didn’t realize it before reading the YouTube comments, but the creative team slipped a few Easter eggs in there as well. I don’t know if this will improve your perception of stock photography, but the spot itself looks sure to win major awards.
